There are many opportunities to volunteer for the Canisius High School Rowing Club. Without the help of our volunteers, the program would not be as successful or as rewarding for our rowers. There is no experience necessary to volunteer!  Come out and meet your son's rowing friends and other parents -- get involved -- many hands make light work!

Regatta/Event Chairs:


There are many opportunities to volunteer for the Canisius High School Rowing Club. Without the help of our volunteers, the program would not be as successful or as rewarding for our rowers. Freshmen/Novice parents are encouraged to volunteer!  If you are interested in volunteering for any of the following or have a special skill that you would like to share please contact Gerald Sullivan.

Regatta/Event: (Check back for more descriptions on each of the following positions).

  • Regatta Onsite Chair (for each event)

    • Regatta Food:  Plan and coordinate the menu for the event, determine items on the Signup Genius, Request will be sent out a week before the event for families to volunteer.

    • Regatta Site/Tent Set Up:  The person or people who are responsible for tent set-up need to be there before any racing to set up the group tent and furniture for the chairs who need to organize the food for the rowers.

    • Max Coordinator:  This person is responsible for towing the MAX trailer from storage to the regatta site and helping set up the tent/furniture for the event.

    • Hotel/Bus Coordinator:  This person or team of people coordinate the busing/transportation from CHS to the regatta site, as well as arrange for and serve the dinners at the hotels for the rowers and coaches.

  • Winter Social Chairperson:  Usually a team of volunteers plan this event.  The event is held at CHS and involves obtaining gifts for the auction, coordinating food for the event, and various other event planning activities.

  • Crusader Erg Challenge Chairperson:  This event is a reciprocal event held either before or after the CHS rowers travel to Ohio for an ergathon.  Involves coordinating food, host families for visiting team and prizes & t-shirts for competitors.

  • June Banquet Chairperson:  This event is typically held at Kloc's Grove in West Seneca in June just after the Nationals and before exams begin.  Involves coordinating event date, RSVP, payments, food, developing a Senior Mom gift, and working with coaches to insure all other needs are met.  RSVP through Signup Genius and payments sent to Treasurer.
