PreSeason Training
(August)

This is a 10-day program open to all Canisius students in 9th through 12th grade.

Fall Season
(September - November)

Returning rowers will train and race on the Varsity Squad from Preseason through November, while incoming Freshmen/new Oarsmen will train and compete on the Freshmen/Novice Squad.  Regattas we have attended in the past include: The Head of the Genesee (Rochester, NY), Jesuit Invitational (Camden, NJ), Head of the Buffalo (Buffalo, NY), Head of the Charles (Boston, MA), Head of the Fish (Saratoga, NY), and Pull the Plug Regatta (Pittsford, NY).

Winter Season
(November -March)

Following the fall, the Varsity and Freshmen/Novice Squads enter Winter Training Mode.  This is comprised of ergometer workouts, weight room circuits, swimming, running etc.  The goal of Winter Training is to build upon the strength and skills learned in the fall, and to prepare for the spring (Sprint) Season.  The team also competes in several "Ergattas" or indoor erg competitions.

Spring Season: Primary Racing Season
(March - June)

When the River thaws, the Varsity and Freshmen/Novice will segue from Winter Training into “on the water training” for the Spring Racing Season.  The Spring Racing Season begins at the end of April and runs through early June.  Regattas are generally held each weekend.  Regattas we have attended in the past include: Governor's Cup Regatta (Columbus, OH), The John Bennett Invitational (Buffalo, NY), New York State Scholastic Championships (Saratoga, NY), Mother's Day Regatta (St. Catharines, Ont., Canada.), Welland Invitational (Welland, Ont., Canada.), Scholastic Rowing Association National Championships (Camden, NJ), Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association National Championships (St. Catharines Ont., Ca.), USRowing Youth Invitational National Championships (Oak Ridge, TN; Lake Natoma, CA; Sarasota, FL).
